Riviera Nayarit (formally known as the Mexican Gold Coast)

The Mexican Department of Tourism is projecting real estate investments of over 1.5 billion dollars along the Nayarit Riviera! There is even a privately funded toll road presently under construction. Stretching from Guadalajara, it will run west to the ocean front town of Rincon Los Guayabitos, 35 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. From there this route will turn directly south, straight into Puerto Vallarta. Scheduled to be completed in mid 2009, this road will shorten driving times between the north and the south by almost half! The previous four and a half hour drive from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta will be approximately a two and a half hour drive instead.

Mexico is in the process of investing over a billion dollars for the development of the infrastructure along the Nayarit Riviera. This expenditure is intended to support the growth that is projected during the next ten years. The State of Nayarit is co-operating fully to hasten the permit and approval processes, which will allow the investment dollars to continue to be brought into Mexico. The National Tourism Development Foundation (Fonatur) recently announced phase two of Riviera Nayarit's integrally planned resort (IPR). Known as El Capomo, located 35 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, the development of this 670 acre project will commence with an initial investment of approximately 59 million USD from Fonatur. The resort sits in an area that provides easy access to Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara and already has public services such as hospitals, schools, malls, national and international connections through Tepic National Airport, Federal Highway 200, Puerto Vallarta International Airport and Puerto Vallarta's Maritime Terminal. Completion of the resort's infrastructure will take approximately twelve months. At which time, residential and hotel developments will begin construction.

Nayarit's comprehensive planned center, known as Riviera Nayarit, is located in the state's southern coast and consists of two sections: Litibú in the south, adjacent to Punta Mita, and El Capomo, 35 miles to the north. Both are considered to be an important part of Banderas Bay's overall tourism development. Fonatur estimates that Riviera Nayarit will be completed by the year 2020, at which time the IPR will have tourist and residential lodging for 14,500 rooms, should attract over 1,025,000 tourists per year, which will generate an income of $866 million USD, along with the creation of 17,400 new jobs. Towns such as San Poncho, Sayulita, Los Ayala, Lo de Marcos and Guayabitos sit along the Riviera coast line and already are attracting investors and full time residents in record numbers. Investment opportunities along the Riviera Nayarit should be excellent for the next ten years.
